Italy, Germany, Norway, Russia, Ecuador and The Netherlands consuls visited thisweek IMED Valencia hospital. Supported by some of the members of themanagement team of the hospital, the consuls had the opportunity of seeingfirsthand the facilities of the new health center settled in Burjassot. They visited themain services in the hospital: emergency, x-ray department, hospitalization andoutpatients clinic.

Eric Nolte, honorary consul of The Netherlands in Valencia, wanted to say somewords and pointed to be “satisfied of having now in the city of Valencia a hospitalas IMED, that wants to offer an optimal health service for international patients thatlives in the Community”.

IMED Hospitals cooperates since several years in the province of Alicante with themain international communities. Their model stands out because of havingtranslators and staff that speak different languages to offer a close service to thesepatients.

Success of the speech of breast reconstruction after cancer

The plastic surgeon from ilahy and IMED Hospitals, Dr. Carlos Rubi, gave aneducational speech last Monday of breast reconstruction after cancer in themeeting room of the Benidorm City Hall. Dr. Pablo Enríquez, who is also surgeon inIMED, presented Rubi pointing out that “he is a great surgeon even though his
young age”.

Dr. Carlos Rubi presented the reconstructive surgery as a very important medicaltool for patients’ quality of life, showing some examples of operations that heperformed or in which he cooperated. Later on, he explained deeply the breastreconstructive surgery after breast cancer, doing a tour on the history of this kind ofoperations from the antiquity, through the middle age till nowadays. The doctorshowed some of the techniques that are used now and their results, and he evenexplained some methods of robotics surgery that will be available soon.

For Dr. Rubi, “plastic surgery doesn’t have to be a luxury, but a necessity forpatients with breast cancer. The solutions that offers plastic surgery in patients withbreast cancer are a lot and very different. The most known is the breastreconstruction that suffered a mastectomy, but plastic surgery can offer a lot more.”
